In addition to focusing on academic improvement and pro-social behaviors, the Kids On Track…Through Mentoring
Program is also dedicated to increasing the percentage of students who meet the state standards of testing in the Healthy Fitness Zone. In order to assess the degree to which this objective was achieved, the Fitness Gram test, which is the
same test used by the State for assessing all 5th, 7th, and 9th grade students, was given to all mentees at the beginning
and end of the school year. The following is a summary of the key findings.

Mentees also demonstrated considerable improvements in their ability to successfully complete a series of trunk
lifts and push-ups. On average, students were able to lift themselves 5.65” during the trunk lifts at the beginning of
the year and 7.28” by the end of the year. The average number of push-ups for both males and females increased
from 7.10 to 8.58.

Students demonstrated statistically significant increases in their reach range for both the left and right side when completing sit ups (p<.000 left and p<.003 right).
